Symptoms
Recently mature leaves show interveinal chlorotic mottling. On closer examination one may detect pale, watery patches with a fine brown border, especially towards the leaf margins. With severe manganese deficiency, brown necroticspots may be shown on the leaf surface. Numerous purplish-brown spots may appear on the leaf stalk or stem.
Reasons
Manganese deficiency.
While rarely seen, transient deficiencies can occur in sandy or peaty soils of a high pH, and can be overcome by using micronutrient sprays (manganese is not very mobile in the plant).
